Corporate Delivery Network (CDN) is networking policy aimed at reducing traffic in the WAN (Internet/Intranet/Extranet) trough a parallel network, based on Storage Nodes that are managed by sophisticated redirection protocols.
The aim of CDN is to bring the contents as close as possible to the customers so that the latency of content distribution or, in other words, the time needed to get an answer from one device, is minimized, and the availability of bandwidth is maximized. Among other capacities, it all depends of the data storage, caching and web traffic redirection. The displacement of contents to the edge of the network helps avoid bottleneck that can easily occur when hundreds of users try to connect simultaneously in real-time with the same web-page, for example, during a sport event, internet/extranet based training session, or when communication CEO messages.
CDN solution suits best for the multi-site enterprises or organizations that need to transfer heavy data to their own customers and/or service users. In order to do this, local caching, storage and traffic redirection techniques can be applied to existing infrastructure by various remote sites, but the parallel content delivery networks can also be established.
The benefits are the lower bandwidth cost, better use of geographic bandwidth, data backup and mirroring to different file systems, content delivery storage point is near the user’s access point in order to increase accessibility, content delivery for user group (content management policy), better performance of content accessibility (available LAN bandwidth).

4. Content filtering: managing/filtering/cleaning the contents the Intranet users have access. In addition, content filtering allows to define various network access policies, so that the bandwidth consumption is optimized and the internal productivity increased
5. Content security and integrity of data : each Corporate CDN node can integrate applications for virus scanning (both form the Internet and the Intranet) and for data security control (intrusion detection of content and in cache memorized software).
